Action Zones

In 3D Browsing, an Action Zone is a 3D Space that triggers an action when an Avatar (or Camera) enters it or engages with it. There are many types of Action Zones that are named by the action or animation they perform.

Load Action Zone

Load Action Zone or Load Zone is an Action Zone where an Avatar triggers a fetch of 3D Webs (3D Communities, 3D Buildings, and 3D Things) to load into the 3D Scene.

Swinging Door Zone

A Swinging Door Zone is an Action Zone where an Avatar triggers a door to swing open based on a defined axle for rotation and meshes that make up the door (door, handle, windows, etc...). When the avatar leaves the Zone, the door closes. The same Zone can be used for any hinged movement like garage doors, castle doors, car doors, trap doors, etc...

Sliding Door Zone

A Sliding Door Zone is an Action Zone where an Avatar triggers a door to slide open based on a defined axle for direction and meshes that make up the door (door, handle, windows, etc...). When the avatar leaves the Zone, the door closes. The same Zone can be used to define any sliding movement from rocks falling, boxes moving, hidden walls, trap doors, rising stairs, etc...

Rotate Zone

A Rotate Zone is an Action Zone where an Avatar triggers (or it can be set as always on) a 3D Object to rotate based on a defined axle for rotation and meshes that will rotate. Similar to the Swinging Door Zone but does not have to be triggered by an avatar. This is perfect for a spinning globe or ceiling fan.

Ride Along Zone

A Ride Along Zone is a Zone that allows your Avatar to attach to a 3D Object for movement. For example, a boat may use a ride along so that any Avatar that climbs on board will move with the boat, yet have freedom to move within the boat. This is perfect for passengers on vehicles, trains, boats, elevators, etc...

Load Animations Zone

A Load Animations Zone is a Zone that will load additional animations to your avatar while you are in the Zone. For example, if an avatar walks onto a mini golf course, the avatar might automatically need animations loaded for holding the golf club, putting the ball, lining up the ball, and celebrating a good shot. These same animations would then be unloaded when the avatar leaves the Zone.

Click Activated Swinging Door

A Click Activated Swinging Door is an Action Zone where an interaction like mouse click or touch screen triggers a door to swing open based on a defined axle for rotation and meshes that make up the door (door, handle, windows, etc...). When the avatar leaves the Zone, the door closes. The same Zone can be used for any hinged movement like garage doors, castle doors, car doors, trap doors, etc...

Click Activated Sliding Door

A Click Activated Sliding Door is an Action Zone where an interaction like mouse click or touch screen triggers a door to slide open based on a defined axle for direction and meshes that make up the door (door, handle, windows, etc...). When the avatar leaves the Zone, the door closes. The same Zone can be used to define any sliding movement from rocks falling, boxes moving, hidden walls, trap doors, rising stairs, etc...
