3D Building Blocks

3D Building Blocks are the basic shapes (molds or meshes) used and combined to create 3D Object assemblies in 3D Websites.

Samples of basic shapes may include:

  • Boxes
  • Spheres
  • Cylinder
  • Cone
  • Torus
  • Polygon
  • Plane
  • Disc
  • Tube
  • Line
  • Ribbon

3D Building Block Combinations

3D Building Blocks can be added individually to a 3D Website or used with Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG) or merge settings.

CSG adds the ability to create a new mesh by combining, subtracting, or intersecting multiple meshes. The purpose for using CSG is to create complex meshes and/or reduce the mesh count for a 3D Website.

  • Combining - 2 or more meshes are combined to become 1 mesh in a 3D Website.
  • Subtracting - A second mesh defines a region that is removed from the first mesh. This method is useful in creating shapes like domes, hollow cylinders, saddles, and complex shapes. Multiple meshes can be subtracted from any given mesh or result of another CSG combination.
  • Intersecting - 2 meshes that overlap in area define an intersection that becomes the mesh.
